Ribosomal Protein L22 is also known as heparin-binding protein HBp15, because it binds heparin in the submandibular gland and brain. This small protein is also associated with two small nuclear RNAs called EBERs (Epstein- Barr encoded RNAs). These RNAs are synthesized in large amounts by human B lymphocytes infected with Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). Ribosomal protein L22, like L4, contains a globular domain that sits on the surface of the large ribosomal subunit and an extended loop that penetrates its core. These extensions contact multiple domains of 23S rRNA, indicating a potential, but not essential, role in rRNA folding during ribosomal assembly. Product :

Describe :

Blocking peptides are peptides that bind specifically to the target antibody and block antibody binding. These peptide usually contains the epitope recognized by the antibody. Antibodies bound to the blocking peptide no longer bind to the epitope on the target protein. This mechanism is useful when non-specific binding is an issue, for example, in Western blotting (WB) and Immunohistochemistry (IHC). By comparing the staining from the blocked antibody versus the antibody alone, one can see which staining is specific; Specific binding will be absent from the western blot or IHC performed with the neutralized antibody.
