The genes encoding type I interferons (IFNs), which include 14 IFN-α genes (two of which are IFN-α1 and IFN-α13), one IFN-β gene, one IFN-w (also known as IFN-α II1) gene and a number of IFN-w pseudogenes, are clustered on human chromosome 9. IFN-α and -β are cytokines that are widely known to induce potent antiviral activity. They exert a variety of other biological effects, including antitumor and immunomodulatory activities and are increasingly used clinically to treat a range of malignancies, myelodysplasias and autoimmune diseases. IFN-w is antigenically different from human IFN-α, IFN-β or IFN-γ, but is a component of natural mixtures of IFN species produced by virus-induced leukocytes or Burkitt's lymphoma cells. The type I interferon receptor (IFN-αR) interacts with IFN-α, IFN-β and IFN-w, and seems to be a multisubunit receptor. Product :

Describe :

Blocking peptides are peptides that bind specifically to the target antibody and block antibody binding. These peptide usually contains the epitope recognized by the antibody. Antibodies bound to the blocking peptide no longer bind to the epitope on the target protein. This mechanism is useful when non-specific binding is an issue, for example, in Western blotting (WB) and Immunohistochemistry (IHC). By comparing the staining from the blocked antibody versus the antibody alone, one can see which staining is specific; Specific binding will be absent from the western blot or IHC performed with the neutralized antibody.
