The ubiquitously expressed sodium/potassium-ATPase (Na⁺/K⁺-ATPase) exists as an oligomeric plasma membrane complex that couples the hydrolysis of one molecule of ATP to the importation of three Na⁺ ions and two K⁺ ions against their respective electrochemical gradients. As a member of the P-type family of ion motives, Na⁺/K⁺-ATPase plays a critical role in maintaining cellular volume, resting membrane potential and Na+-coupled solute transport. Multiple isoforms of three subunits, α, β and γ, comprise the Na⁺/K⁺-ATPase oligomer. The α subunit contains the binding sites for ATP and the cations; the glycosylated β subunit ensures correct folding and membrane insertion of the α subunits. The small γ subunit co-localizes with the α subunit in nephron segments, where it increases the affinity of Na⁺/K⁺-ATPase for ATP. The β subunit, but not the γ subunit, is essential for normal activity of Na⁺/K⁺-ATPase. Product :

Describe :

Blocking peptides are peptides that bind specifically to the target antibody and block antibody binding. These peptide usually contains the epitope recognized by the antibody. Antibodies bound to the blocking peptide no longer bind to the epitope on the target protein. This mechanism is useful when non-specific binding is an issue, for example, in Western blotting (WB) and Immunohistochemistry (IHC). By comparing the staining from the blocked antibody versus the antibody alone, one can see which staining is specific; Specific binding will be absent from the western blot or IHC performed with the neutralized antibody.
